NKS Olaviken gerontopsychiatric hospital
is part of specialist health services within psychiatric care and with operating agreements with the Western Norway Regional Health Authority (Helse Vest RHF).

We offer assessment and treatment to persons with cognitive impairment, dementia or neurodegenrative disorders, as well as for persons over 65 years with psychiatric disorders.

In addition, NKS Olaviken has a special ward for longterm care of patients with Huntington's disease. The ward has contracts with various municipalities in the country.

NKS Olaviken offers a wide range of specialist health services in diagnostics and treatment of dementia and old age psychiatric disorders. Our services include an outpatient clinic, ambulatory services, and inpatient wards with a total of 20 places. NKS Olaviken also runs its own specialized nursing home for patients with Huntington disease with operating agreements with different municipalities in the country. NKS Olaviken has around 145 employees with high interdisciplinary expertise.

As part of the specialist level health services, our goal is to provide our patients the best possible treatment. We therefore place emphasis on research, development and education, as well as competence building for primary care services by teaching and counseling.

NKS Olaviken was established in 1965 with the purpose of offering care for people with dementia diseases. NKS Olaviken is today the only gerontopsychiatric hospital in Norway.

NKS Olaviken is a private, non-profit company. Since 2001, NKS Olaviken has been a member of Kløverinstitusjoner AS, a joint development company for several companies within the Norwegian Women's Sanitation Association. Since 2002, NKS Olaviken has had an operating with the Western Norway Regional Health Authority (Helse Vest RHF).
